In the first trimester, the fetus's various organs develop. When we talk about early ultrasound, we mean surveys in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. In most cases, we perform the ultrasound probe on the stomach, but sometimes we need to use transvaginal ultrasound for a better overview of the fetus. What can you watch for ultrasound in 1 trimester? At early ultrasound we can:

• Confirm pregnancy

• check the number of fetuses

• See that the fetus is inside the cervix

• see heart activity

• Estimate pregnancy length In case of multiple cases, or any deviations, we will refer to the Fetal Medicine Department at the National Hospital – Oslo University Hospital « Foster medicine department at Riks Hospital – Oslo University Hospital »
